Exciting news for fans: Olivia Rodrigo is gearing up to release her next musical installment. The pop powerhouse took to Instagram on Tuesday (April 7) to officially announce the arrival of her latest single.
In the teaser image, Rodrigo is seen blowing a large bubble with gum while wearing a white shirt with the words “drop dead” stitched along the collar. Fittingly, the track is titled “Drop Dead,” and the singer confirmed in her caption that the song will be available on all platforms this Friday, April 17.
This single serves as the first taste of her newly announced third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Just days prior, Rodrigo unveiled the project’s ethereal cover art—a whimsical shot of her leaning back on a swing set against a soft, pale blue sky—and set a release date of June 12 for the full record.
“I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it,” Rodrigo shared with her followers, noting that the album is currently available for pre-order.
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love follows the massive success of her 2023 sophomore effort, Guts, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. That album’s lead single, “Vampire,” earned Rodrigo her third No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, continuing the chart-topping legacy established by “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U” from her debut phenomenon, Sour.
