Taylor Swift Appears in New Patient Zero Footage With Dakota Johnson and Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift released a behind-the-scenes reel on Tuesday (Oct. 13) via Spotify for her self-directed music video for “Patient Zero,” which deals with dark topics including uxoricide. The 14-time Grammy winner plays the ghost ex-wife of Colin Farrell’s character in the visual, ensnaring Dakota Johnson’s character in a sinister romance before she discovers that he killed Swift’s character.

Footage from the set shows Swift filming alongside best friend Dakota Johnson and cuddling with husband Travis Kelce between takes. While Johnson had to maintain a serious demeanor during filming, the two women shared multiple laughs, including breaking character while lying in the same bed and when Swift knocked a cup off a sink.

Another sequence shows Swift in her director’s chair with Kelce standing behind her, holding her arms. The clips also feature Swift reviewing shots on a monitor, alongside surprise cameos from Cara Delevingne and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford smiling between takes.

“Taylor and I have been friends for a really long time, and we’re very close,” Johnson told Fan Girl Nation in September. “Normally, I would say don’t work with your friends. But we work really well together.”

“Patient Zero” dropped on Sept. 25 as one of four bonus tracks to The Life of a Showgirl, which added two more weeks to its initial 12-week run atop the Billboard 200 in 2025 following the release of the Encore deluxe. Two days after the song arrived, Johnson accompanied Swift to the VMAs, where Swift won video of the year for “The Fate of Ophelia” and the first-ever artist director honors, while also premiering the “Patient Zero” video.

Soon after, “Patient Zero” became Swift’s 16th career No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
