Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan to release remix of Expectations

Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are releasing a remix of “Expectations.”

The pop artists announced on Tuesday, Oct. 13, that Roan will feature on a new version of “Expectations” from Rodrigo’s Billboard 200-topping third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The track and a visual arrive on Thursday, Oct. 15. Roan previously teased the collaboration on Tuesday by sharing an audio clip of her voice stating that Rodrigo now makes remixes.

Rodrigo shared that she is beyond excited to share the news and revealed the cover art, shot by Phoenix Johnson. The photo depicts the two singers posing atop a retro convertible in Cyndi Lauper-inspired 1980s attire.

“Expectations” debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 following its release alongside Rodrigo’s latest LP in June. The artists share a long friendship and have worked with producer Dan Nigro for years. In August, Roan performed at Rodrigo’s first Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, California, which raised $20 million for charities supporting women and girls.

Roan opened a show on Rodrigo’s Sour Tour in 2022 and returned as a supporting act on the Guts World Tour two years later. Following her global breakout in late 2024, Roan rejoined Rodrigo on the Guts trek in Los Angeles to perform “Hot to Go!”

“She actually gives me so much advice on taking care of myself and being me in an industry that’s so overwhelming sometimes,” Rodrigo told Billboard of Roan in October 2024. “I really appreciate her.”
