Clovers Studio has officially confirmed that development on the highly anticipated sequel to Okami is still in its nascent stages, with a release date remaining a distant prospect. This update was shared in a New Year’s address by studio head Kento Koyama and the game’s original visionary, Hideki Kamiya.
Although the development team has expanded and dedicated the past year to intensive production, the timeline for a premiere is far from immediate. The studio noted that 2026 will also be a year focused heavily on foundational preparation and development milestones.
In a move to support its ambitious goals, the studio has significantly bolstered its workforce, recruiting top-tier specialists and establishing new creative hubs in both Tokyo and Osaka.
Kamiya reflected on the studio’s culture, stating:
We have assembled an elite squad of high-caliber professionals who share our core philosophy. While our environment remains vibrantly chaotic, our days are defined by joy and artistic passion.
Ultimately, everyone at CLOVERS is united by a singular objective: ensuring our players experience pure delight. That is our sole mission—this year, next year, and beyond. Alongside my colleagues, I eagerly anticipate another year of inspired, unbridled chaos.
Clovers reminded the community that while two years have elapsed since the initial sequel announcement, the project remains a top priority and continues to evolve steadily.
