Obsession Star Inde Navarrette Expresses Interest in Sequel

Inde Navarrette is lining up major roles following her breakout performance in Obsession. Her upcoming projects include playing Rogue in Marvel’s X-Men reboot and starring in Apple’s sci-fi thriller The Waffle House Index. However, the actress remains open to returning to her horror hit.

Navarrette stated she would happily return for a potential Obsession sequel during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. She also discussed her sudden rise to fame, future projects, and her character Nikki after the credits roll.

“I would totally be open to doing a sequel. Are you kidding me? Who am I to say no?” Navarrette said.

What could an Obsession sequel look like?

Navarrette believes Nikki would first need to process the events of director Curry Barker’s horror film. “I think the non-pretty answer, which I think is more important to give sometimes than kind of just giggling through answers, is she’s starting a grief process,” Navarrette explained.

Nikki loses her autonomy when her friend Bear, played by Michael Johnston, uses a mysterious novelty item called the One Wish Willow to force her affection. The wish triggers horrific consequences, leaving Nikki to grapple with an ordeal that was never her choice.

Writer and director Curry Barker has also expressed interest in revisiting the film’s mythology. In May, he discussed considering either Obsession 2 or an anthology series featuring different wishes gone wrong with other filmmakers.

An anthology could expand the mythology of the One Wish Willow without continuing Nikki’s exact story. A proper sequel remains a possibility since both Barker and Navarrette are open to returning.
