Noah Kahan issued a blunt public service announcement to his fanbase following a bizarre incident at his Philadelphia show this past Friday (June 26). A viral video captured by an attendee circulated across social media this weekend, appearing to show human excrement left near the seating area at Citizens Bank Park.
Whether the incident was the result of a child in need of a bathroom break or an unfortunate adult emergency that prompted a hasty retreat, Kahan is urging his audience to prioritize basic hygiene. His message was clear: if nature calls, the facility doors are always open.
“If you need to use the restroom during a show, for the love of god, please just go,” Kahan remarked on X the morning after the concert. “I’ve had my own mishaps before, but you have to consider the venue staff who are left to deal with the aftermath of something like this.”
The singer, whose latest record The Great Divide debuted atop the Billboard 200 earlier this May, added a touch of self-deprecating humor to his post. “I’ve had an accident onstage in Charlottesville, but that was strictly in the name of dedication to the craft,” he joked in a follow-up reply.
When a user challenged his casual attitude toward such incidents, Kahan maintained his lighthearted demeanor, trading witty barbs while reinforcing his original plea for concert etiquette.
The incident follows a strange trend in live music news; recently, Olivia Rodrigo addressed rumors regarding fans wearing diapers in the front row of her performances. As concert culture continues to provide headline-worthy moments, Kahan’s fans heading to his upcoming stop in Toronto on Sunday night will surely be hoping for a more conventional experience as The Great Divide Tour pushes forward through the end of the year.
If you have to go to the bathroom at a show, please just go. I’ve had my own accidents, but please spare the venue staff from having to deal with that.
