Noah Kahan’s highly anticipated performance at Queens’ Citi Field was abruptly scrapped on the evening of Saturday, July 18, due to threatening weather conditions. Despite the venue’s efforts to salvage the night—which included monitoring atmospheric instability throughout the afternoon and initially announcing a streamlined schedule without an opening act—organizers ultimately determined that the risk was too great.
“Tonight’s show at Citi Field has been canceled due to severe weather. While this was a difficult decision, our absolute priority remains the safety of our fans and staff,” the venue stated in an official update. The region faced a volatile mix of thunderstorms, flash flooding risks, and hazardous wind gusts throughout the evening.
Kahan expressed his personal disappointment regarding the sudden change of plans. “We truly exhausted every possibility to make this happen,” the singer-songwriter shared via Instagram, acknowledging his frustrated fanbase.
While no rescheduled date has been confirmed for the July 18 event, which served as the first night of a planned two-show residency, Kahan is still slated to perform at the venue on Sunday, July 19. Citi Field officials have confirmed that ticket holders will be automatically refunded through their original point of purchase, including those who used Ticketmaster.
The stormy weather prompted further disruptions across Queens; nearby Forest Hills Stadium was forced to postpone a set by Zeds Dead. The duo, citing both safety protocols and logistical challenges caused by heavy rainfall, pushed their performance to August 14. “The weather is simply too uncooperative,” the group noted in a statement. “We were holding out hope for a magical night in the rain, but safety has to come first.”
The electronic duo’s Journey of a Lifetime tour is expected to proceed as scheduled in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 24.
