Nintendo Releases Updated Switch 2 in Europe

Nintendo has released an updated version of the Switch 2 in Europe featuring an easier battery replacement process to comply with European Union right-to-repair regulations.

The revised Nintendo Switch 2 model has arrived in European stores, with Nintendo simplifying battery swaps to meet EU right-to-repair standards for electronics.

Externally, the new model looks almost identical to the original, though it includes several internal changes. According to Nintenduo, the battery is now easier to replace because Nintendo redesigned the internal layout. Battery capacity decreased by roughly 1%, dropping by 48 mAh, while the console with attached Joy-Con controllers became 14 grams heavier.

Fastening mechanisms have also changed. Screws near the Joy-Con are now easier to reach since Nintendo removed the stickers that previously obstructed disassembly. The thermal shield was redesigned as well, and it no longer covers the battery, which now has its own dedicated insulation layer.

Shoppers can identify the new version by its serial number, which begins with “HLE”. The model launched shortly after the Nintendo Switch 2 price increase in early September and aligns with newer EU repairability requirements.
