Nintendo Releases Special Guide for Elden Ring Beginners

Nintendo has released an official beginner’s guide for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2, introducing newcomers to the basics of traveling through the Lands Between.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026. To mark the release, Nintendo and Bandai Namco prepared a short video with basic tips for players experiencing the FromSoftware game for the first time. The guide explains the core principles of Elden Ring and outlines what to expect during the journey through the Lands Between. The player’s main goal is to explore the world, gather the shards of the shattered Elden Ring, and ultimately become the Elden Lord.

The Tarnished Edition includes the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. The release also features new content, including the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight starting classes, new weapons and equipment, and the ability to change Torrent’s appearance. Part of this content is available to owners of the game on other platforms through the paid Tarnished Pack.

Initial reviews indicate that the Switch 2 version turned out noticeably better technically than early demonstrations suggested.
