Blizzard Says Diablo V Is in Development
Blizzard has started work on materials for Diablo V. Neil David Carter, who oversees the series’ videos, reported the first filming session in a post on X. He shared a photo from the studio with the hashtag #Diablo5.

The post appeared one month after the official announcement of the game at BlizzCon 2026.
According to previously published information, Diablo V will continue the story of Diablo IV about 100 years after its events. The story will unfold in Sanctuary after the defeat of Diablo, in an era described as the “dawn of the apocalypse.” Instead of a single open world, the developers are reportedly betting on procedurally generated locations and dungeons.
The confirmed classes include the Demon Hunter and the Monk. A new class, the Plague Knight, will also appear. It specializes in spreading diseases and using them in combat.
The preliminary release year for Diablo V is 2029.
