The Witcher 4 Will Release in a Physical Edition, but with a Catch
CD Projekt RED intends to release The Witcher IV in a boxed edition, but decisions by console manufacturers could mean it ships without a physical disc.
CD Projekt RED CEO Michał Nowakowski called the new game the most ambitious in the studio’s history during an interview. The team intends to offer new approaches to storytelling, gameplay, and main and side quests.
Nowakowski also confirmed that the company wants to preserve physical editions, although their release depends on console manufacturers and the availability of production capacity.
This does not mean that the studio decides for itself to release the game and independently supplies its physical version to the market. If the manufacturer completely closes the possibility of releasing games on physical media, they simply will not exist.
At the same time, CD Projekt RED is prepared to sell boxes containing codes and themed souvenirs instead of discs. It remains unknown which option will be chosen for The Witcher IV.
