GTA VI Artist Describes Aftermath of 2022 Leak: It Felt Like Someone Got Inside Your Head
Rockstar artist Aaron Garbut called the 2022 GTA VI leaks a “strange invasion of privacy.” Studio executives also discussed the game’s scale, changes in development and the fight against crunch.
“It feels like someone is going through your dirty laundry. Like they got inside your head,” Garbut told Bloomberg. The leaks exposed unfinished models and design decisions that nobody was meant to see:
It’s a very strange invasion of privacy. Emotionally, it’s quite hard to deal with.
Head of Publishing Jennifer Kolbe said Rockstar decided to rethink its approach to crunch after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. The studio changed its workflows, and she said it is proud of that.

Head of Development Phil Hooker added that GTA VI kept changing even a few months before the interview. Because of technical limitations, the team cut some areas and decided to delay the release so it could ship the game as originally envisioned.
GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026.
