Amazon Casts Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson Roles in Fourth Wing TV Series

The adaptation of Fourth Wing, Rebecca Yarros’s best-selling romantasy series, is still in the early stages of production. Fans have been eager for news, especially about casting. Now they have an answer. Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya will play Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson.

Fourth Wing is told from Violet’s point of view, so readers see life in the Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College through her eyes. She meets Xaden Riorson, who she believes wants her dead because of her mother’s actions against his father. That sets up a classic enemies-to-lovers plot, and the two eventually fall in love. Their relationship is central to the story, which is why fans cared so much about who would play them.

According to Deadline, Esther McGregor (Babygirl, We Were Liars) has been cast as Violet, and Emilio Sakraya (Warrior Nun) will play Xaden. Amazon’s casting looks spot-on. Once the actors have their hair and makeup done and put on their flight leathers, they should look just like petite Violet and her beloved shadow wielder.

The casting has two small issues. In the book, the height gap between Violet and Xaden is more than a foot, while the actors differ by only 4.7 inches. Sakraya is also 30, and Xaden is in his early twenties. If the show is renewed and a long gap falls between seasons, that age difference could become a problem.

It’s good to know who will play the two most important characters in the series. Many cast members are still unannounced, though. Other prominent characters in the first book include Dain Aetos, Rhiannon Matthias and Liam Mairi. Hopefully, those roles will be revealed soon.
