New God of War Laufey Weapon Revealed Alongside Pre-Order Details

God of War Laufey combat and weapon reveal

Santa Monica Studio has pulled back the curtain on fresh combat mechanics for God of War Laufey, highlighting a brand-new weapon for the titular heroine. With the official release locked in for February, developers have also detailed the upcoming pre-order bonuses and an expansive Digital Deluxe Edition.

Stepping into the shoes of Faye—Kratos’ late wife—players will journey through the Everywhen, the turbulent divine afterlife, following her tragic passing in the 2018 title. According to a recent PlayStation Blog briefing, Faye’s arsenal isn’t limited to her signature blade. She will also wield the Serpent’s Bow, a mystical projectile weapon designed to keep adversaries at bay while integrating fluidly into close-quarters combos. Promotional footage demonstrates Faye launching enemies airborne before raining down rapid arrows mid-air, seamlessly transitioning back into melee onslaughts.

Holding down the attack trigger charges precision shots capable of exploiting enemy vulnerabilities, effectively disrupting their offensive momentum and mobility. Fully charged draws allow Faye to unleash up to five arrows simultaneously. Furthermore, the bow supports versatile ammunition types, ranging from rapid-fire volleys to explosive payloads and multi-target tracking. Players can also personalize the Serpent’s Bow by equipping unique scales that modify both its aesthetic flair and combat performance.
