Nathan Fillion Says Superman Sequel Will Further Explore Lex Luthor
Superman is set to team up with Luthor against Brainiac.
Man of Steel: The Man of Tomorrow will provide a closer look at Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult. Nathan Fillion, who will reprise his role as Green Lantern Guy Gardner in James Gunn’s Superman sequel, shared this with The Hollywood Reporter:
“In the first film, we learn a lot about who Superman is, and rightfully so. In The Man of Tomorrow, I think we learn more about who Lex Luthor is. And I feel like that is just as important.”

In the sequel, Superman and his arch-nemesis will have to join forces to fight back against Brainiac. James Gunn previously dismissed rumors that the film will serve as a crossover event for the updated DC universe, explaining that the story will remain centered on Lex and Clark:
“This is a movie about Lex and Clark. People shouldn’t expect a lot of screen time for other heroes.”
The Man of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
