New Dead Rising in Development — Frank West to Return to Hollywood, Media Report

Mp1st reports that Capcom is developing a new Dead Rising project — a full, original entry in the series rather than a remaster.

The title has reportedly been in development since at least 2023 under the codename “Rec” and will bring back protagonist Frank West. It appears to be a direct follow-up to the first game, although that detail hasn’t been officially confirmed.

The story is said to be set before Dead Rising 2, which focused on Chuck Greene. The new entry aims to welcome newcomers to the franchise while continuing Frank’s storyline.

Events unfold in Hollywood on a vast, sealed film studio. The primary antagonist is an eccentric director who forces Frank and other survivors to face lethal challenges in pursuit of the “perfect movie.” Adversaries include deranged individuals — notably an assistant director wearing a body-mounted explosive whom Frank rescues early on.

Players will encounter other survivors, such as actors and a young girl searching for her sister, alongside returning faces like Isabella Keyes. Frank’s camera mechanics and the time-limit system are expected to return, and survivor-rescue mechanics may also be included.

No exact release date has been announced, but the game is unlikely to arrive soon.
