Streaming platform Netflix has unveiled a new horror picture, “The Boy in the Iron Box.” The film is adapted from a series of novels by director Guillermo del Toro and his co-author Chuck Hogan (The Strain).
The plot follows a group of mercenaries forced to make an emergency landing in the mountains. While exploring an abandoned stronghold, they find a chained box; when they open it, a boy emerges who soon begins to terrorize them.
David Prior (The Empty Man) will write and direct, with del Toro serving in a producer role. The principal cast includes Jaeden Martell (It), Rupert Friend, and Kevin Durand.
Production is scheduled to begin in October, though an official release date for The Boy in the Iron Box has not been announced. Del Toro is also set to release his adaptation of Frankenstein on Netflix on November 7, starring Oscar Isaac.
