Netflix is currently developing an animated series based on the iconic Ghostbusters franchise. While the project is in the works, fans will have to wait, as the release is slated for 2027. Dan Aykroyd, a star from the original films, is on board as an executive producer.
Rumors suggest that the streaming platform has ambitious plans beyond just a series; a full-length animated feature film centered on the quartet of heroes defending New York City from supernatural threats is also reportedly in development.
Back in the mid-1980s, Aykroyd and his late co-star Harold Ramis brought Ghostbusters to the small screen as an animated show, which enjoyed a successful seven-season run.
