Yostar Pictures is producing an anime adaptation of Needy Streamer Overload, but the original game’s writer will be unable to take part in its promotion due to disagreements with Why So Serious Inc.
Nyarla, the lead writer and world designer of Needy Streamer Overdose, published a statement following the recent announcement of the anime. In it he confirmed that Why So Serious Inc., the company behind the original game, removed him from the project’s leadership and promotional activities.
According to Nyarla, some time ago WSS made a unilateral decision to exclude him from the project’s management over disputes, despite his involvement from the outset — serving as writer, creative director, and concept author. Around the same period he was diagnosed with an adjustment disorder and depression, yet he says he continued to work and poured his energy into the project.
Nyarla said he completed scripts for all thirteen episodes of the first season. However, in October 2025 Why So Serious informed him that production would be halted unless he stopped participating publicly in promotional efforts. Since then he has been unable to attend events or give interviews related to the series. The company has not disclosed further details — the author noted he could elaborate if necessary.
The writer also stated that he has not yet received full payment for his work. He is currently consulting with legal counsel to protect his copyright and professional reputation.
Despite these difficult circumstances, Nyarla emphasized that the Needy Streamer Overload anime is being made by people who share his passion for the project. He thanked the entire team — the director, artists, voice cast, and everyone who helped bring his vision to life.
The anime’s premiere is scheduled for April 2026. In the meantime, Nyarla and several former members of the original game’s development team are working on a new project, the announcement of which is expected later this year.
