Mixtape — Already Hailed as “Game of the Year 2025” — Delayed Until 2026

Game development doesn’t always unfold exactly as originally planned.

In October, at the SXSW Sydney 2025 Games & Screen Awards it was announced that Mixtape had been named their “Game of the Year 2025.”

In November, developer Beethoven and Dinosaur reiterated news about their project by announcing that Mixtape has been pushed to next year. The game is largely complete; the team needs additional time to apply final touches.

Mixtape currently only has a release window set for 2026.

During the final party before they go their separate ways, three friends drift into wistful memories of the defining moments of their youth, all set to a perfectly curated soundtrack. You will live through the decisive events that shaped them. As familiar, beloved songs play, the player is carried back to adolescence. Expect to skateboard, take photographs, hold long conversations in an abandoned amusement park, toss a baseball back and forth, and watch fireworks from the back seat of a car. Ahead are the greatest hits of growing up, from a first kiss to the farewell dance.
