Warner Bros. has announced a sequel to the Minecraft feature film. The follow-up is set to hit international theaters on July 23, 2027.
Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) will return to helm the project. Specifics about the new film’s plot have not yet been disclosed.
The first installment premiered in theaters in April of this year and went on to earn $957.8 million worldwide. The cast included Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Jennifer Coolidge and others. The story followed four heroes who are transported into a whimsical, cube‑shaped wonderland.
The original Minecraft was released in 2011 as a 3D sandbox game in which players shape and explore a world by placing and breaking blocks across three dimensions.
