Microsoft Updates Xbox Cloud Gaming Requirements, Leaving Outdated TVs Behind
Owners of older Samsung and LG televisions should check their models, as Microsoft cloud gaming may stop launching on them after November 3.
Xbox Cloud Gaming may lose support on certain Samsung and LG televisions released before 2020 due to changing technical requirements for Microsoft’s service starting November 3, 2026.
The cloud service lets users run games from the Xbox Game Pass catalog directly on a television without buying a console. On compatible Samsung models, this uses the Samsung Gaming Hub.
Microsoft plans to require Chromium 70 support. Some older Samsung televisions run on Chromium 69, which was released in 2018. The issue involves Web Workers technology, and updating the browser separately from the television system software is not always possible.
Similar restrictions may affect certain LG models. Meanwhile, televisions running Android TV and Google TV will likely avoid the issue thanks to the ability to update Chromium components independently of the main system.

Microsoft has not yet officially reported which models will lose access to the service. The presence of the Xbox app in the television store also does not guarantee that cloud gaming will continue to work after the requirements change.
