GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards and RTX Spark laptops will receive a lighter version of DLSS 5 starting October 16. Following this, the new version of the technology will roll out to a range of games and tools.

NVIDIA is preparing a major DLSS 5 update that will make Neural Rendering twice as fast and reduce its 4K video memory consumption by 20%. NBA 2K27, Hogwarts Legacy, and Where Winds Meet will receive support for the technology.

The Neural Rendering model has been reduced in size by 24%, and it now features approximately 118 million parameters. GPU load has been cut roughly in half, and the technology has become ten times faster since its initial presentation in March.

The update will launch on October 16, 2026, appearing first in NBA 2K27 on GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW. Hogwarts Legacy will receive DLSS 5 on November 5, and Where Winds Meet will get it in late November. On October 23, the technology will also arrive in RTX Remix to improve the graphics of older games and modifications for Fallout 4 and Mirror’s Edge.

NVIDIA has started testing a new Performance Mode for frame generation called Preset C. It is available in the NVIDIA App beta version for RTX 40 and RTX 50 series. On the RTX 5060, the frame generation performance boost can reach up to 35%, though at the cost of a slight drop in image quality. The mode is compatible with Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
