Michelle Obama and Michelle Williams Pose for Photos Backstage During Brandy and Monica’s Tour

Two high-profile Michelles made for a memorable night in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, November 30, former First Lady Michelle Obama and Broadway and recording artist Michelle Williams attended Brandy & Monica’s The Boy Is Mine Tour performance at Capital One Arena.

A backstage montage posted Monday morning, December 1, by Black Promoters Collective — the production company behind the 32-date tour — celebrated the visit and described the evening as “a special night.” The short clip shows Mrs. Obama greeting the performers and posing for photos with Brandy, Monica and guest performer Kelly Rowland. In another moment from the video, Michelle Williams shares a group photo with Mrs. Obama and other members of the touring party.

Rowland joins each show as a special guest, delivering an extended, 40-minute set during most stops on the run. The Boy Is Mine Tour continues through mid-December, with the final scheduled performance set for December 14, 2025 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

In November 2025, Michelle Williams earned her first solo Grammy nomination outside of Destiny’s Child for her contribution to the 2024 original Broadway cast recording of Death Becomes Her, which was nominated in the Best Musical Theater Album category. Earlier this season she also performed a number from that show — “If You Want Perfection” — during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Mrs. Obama has remained visible this year as well: on November 4, 2025 she released a new photo collection titled The Look, which chronicles her evolving style across and beyond her time in the White House. She has also participated in public conversations and media appearances that highlight her longstanding relationships within the entertainment community.

The tour recently adjusted its lineup: Muni Long, who performed on the initial dates, announced via Instagram that medical advice prevents her from completing the remaining shows. Grammy-winning artist Mýa has been tapped to replace Long for the remainder of the run.
