“That’s entirely separate—we’ve been trying to move for two years. It’s funny how the internet connects unrelated dots. I’ve actually stepped away from social media entirely, so I’m blissfully unaware of the latest tabloid rumors.”
Your album Toy With Me blends heavy personal themes with an upbeat, pop aesthetic. What’s the inspiration behind that contrast?
“I’ve always gravitated toward infectious, happy sounds. Even when I’m writing about pain or insecurities, I want to dress it in music that makes people feel empowered. ‘Toy With Me’ is about reclaiming my childhood joy. It’s a reminder that no matter how much people try to mess with you, you can choose to remain steady, happy, and in control.”
And the track “Little One”—that feels like a very personal milestone.
“It’s my ‘time capsule’ song. It’s a vulnerable look at my fears as a parent. When you’re in the public eye, even taking your kids to Disney World can be complex. That song is my way of protecting them and capturing this moment in time. Whenever we play it, my kids recognize it instantly—it’s magic.”
