Media Deny Report of Margot Robbie’s Involvement in ‘American Psycho’ Remake
Deadline reports that actress Margot Robbie is not attached to the new version of American Psycho.
Earlier, the British tabloid The Sun published claims that Robbie might be up for a role in the remake. The stories suggested the lead—the banker and serial killer Patrick Bateman—could be reimagined as a female character, but those rumours are unfounded.
Who will ultimately portray Bateman remains unknown. Names linked to the part have included Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi, and Patrick Schwarzenegger has also voiced interest.
The film is set to be directed by Luca Guadagnino (The Contenders) and will be distributed by Lionsgate. The remake is based on Bret Easton Ellis’s 1991 novel of the same name. The best-known screen adaptation remains the version starring Christian Bale.
