Marvel Tokon Producer Admits PC Version Failure and Calls Player Retention Extremely Difficult

The producer of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has acknowledged the issues plaguing the PC version and stated that winning back departed players will be extremely difficult.

Sony’s fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls faced severe problems at launch, particularly on PC. Players complained about optimization, mandatory PSN linking, Sony’s development tools, and anti-cheat software. Consequently, Steam filled up with negative reviews, and roughly one-tenth of the initial player base remained after two weeks.

Game producer Takeshi Yamanaka did not shift responsibility and acknowledged the issues.

We understand that the issues with the PC version caused players a lot of difficulties, and we sincerely apologize for this, but we can promise that we are constantly working hard on future improvements. And we hope that players will stay with us and continue to generate more excitement around Marvel Tokon.

At the same time, Yamanaka acknowledged that bringing back the audience will be “extremely difficult.” He also thanked everyone who purchased the game at launch and separately apologized to PC players who were unable to play properly due to the issues and refunded the game.
