Bungie has finally pulled back the curtain on its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, debuting a fresh trailer that confirms a firm launch date. Players can officially prepare for their deployment to the mysterious Tau Ceti IV on March 5.
Initially revealed in mid-2023, the revival of the classic franchise was originally slated for a release last autumn. However, the studio opted for a significant delay to refine the experience following polarized feedback from Alpha participants. The road to launch also weathered a brief controversy regarding its aesthetic direction—an issue Bungie has since rectified. In this high-stakes extraction experience, players step into the shoes of “Runners”—augmented cybernetic operatives tasked with retrieving valuable technology from a hostile alien world. Bungie also detailed a star-studded voice cast that lends gravitas to the world of Marathon.
