The highly anticipated Lords of the Fallen II—effectively the third installment in this dark fantasy saga—has been officially postponed to 2027. Originally slated for release later this year, the sequel will now require more time in the forge.
CI Games shared a candid development update detailing the reasoning behind the shift. The studio explained that by working closely with a “Gameplay Feedback Team” composed of seasoned Souls-like experts, they discovered key areas where the experience could be further refined. To ensure the final product meets their internal quality standards, the developers have opted for additional iteration and polishing.
Beyond technical polish, CI Games noted that moving the release window away from the congested 2026 holiday season is a strategic move. By avoiding the year-end rush—which includes a crowded September schedule and the juggernaut release of Grand Theft Auto VI—the studio intends to ensure the game receives the undivided attention it deserves from the gaming community.
First teased at Gamescom 2025, Lords of the Fallen II serves as a direct follow-up to the 2023 Lords of the Fallen reboot. The series has navigated a complex path since the original 2014 title, and the sequel previously sparked industry debate in 2025 following public statements from studio leadership regarding their “player-first” development philosophy and internal stance on social agendas.
Lords of the Fallen II is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, the Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
