Lorde Calls Justin Bieber’s ‘Daisies’ Her 2025 Song of the Summer: “It Checked All the Boxes for Me”

Lorde Names Justin Bieber’s “Daisies” Her Pick for 2025’s Song of the Summer

Published December 1, 2025

Lorde picked Justin Bieber’s “Daisies” as her personal favorite for the summer’s standout track in 2025, saying the single came the closest this year to fitting the song-of-the-summer mold.

In an interview published December 1, 2025, she explained that Bieber’s lead single from his “Swag” era “checked all the boxes” and described the record as delightfully flirtatious. The conversation appeared in a feature published that day; full interview available here: read the piece.

While many of her supporters argued that her own song “What Was That” deserved the title, Lorde was humble about the idea — noting she doesn’t usually set out to craft summer anthems and is content to let others own that space.

The 2025 race for song of the summer was unusually fragmented, with no single runaway favorite. Other artists in the same feature named their picks: Sadie Sink highlighted Lady Gaga’s “How Bad Do U Want Me,” and Amaya “Papaya” Espinal pointed to Bad Bunny’s “DtMF.”

By Billboard’s chart metrics, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” led the season, spending ten weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2025. Morgan Wallen also dominated the summer rankings, occupying Nos. 2–4 with “What I Want” (featuring Tate McRae), “Just in Case” and “I’m the Problem,” respectively.

Even so, Lorde argued there’s a compelling case for Bieber: “Daisies” peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 and has earned a nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
