As LISA pivots toward her next chapter as a solo artist, she is taking a reflective look at the path that brought her here. In a revealing new cover feature for Vanity Fair, the BLACKPINK sensation opened up about the early days of her training, the tight-knit bond she shares with her bandmates, and her excitement for her upcoming sophomore album.
For long-time fans, LISA’s ascent is a familiar narrative: she was the second member of the group to join the rigorous YG Entertainment training program. There, she quickly found her footing alongside JENNIE, who helped her navigate the culture, followed by JISOO. “We spent so much time together,” LISA shared with the outlet. “Even with the language barrier—I struggled with Korean and she had limited English—we managed to cultivate a genuine, profound connection.”
LISA recalls that her bond with ROSÉ, who arrived a year later, evolved into something even deeper. Sharing the unique experience of having families living far away, she notes, “We became inseparable, essentially like twin sisters.”
Since then, the quartet has redefined global pop, securing a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 with Born Pink and landing multiple tracks on the Hot 100. Following the success of her 2025 debut, Alter Ego, LISA is now based in the U.S. and is currently deep into the creative process for her next project.
While details remain under wraps, LISA describes the current phase as highly experimental. She is sketching out concepts for her second LP, which she hopes will complement her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace this November.
Interestingly, a career in music wasn’t always the goal her family envisioned. “As a child, my mother pushed me toward acting school,” she confessed. Despite her initial hesitation—and the fact that she previously shied away from the craft—LISA has since embraced the screen with her role in The White Lotus and is now actively evaluating new acting opportunities.
