A new featurette for Laika’s animated project Wildwood has surfaced online.
The film is an adaptation of Colin Meloy’s novel of the same name. It follows 12-year-old Prue McKeel from Portland, who ventures into an ancient, enchanted wildwood to rescue her younger brother after he’s carried away by a flock of black crows.
The cast includes Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Angela Bassett, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Awkwafina, Tom Waits, Richard E. Grant and others. The picture is directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee). A release is expected in 2026.
Laika is also known for Coraline, ParaNorman and other stop-motion films. The studio recently announced its first live-action feature, the thriller Audition starring Lucy Liu.
