Kojima Confirms Plans for Physint and OD — No Releases Scheduled for 2026

Hideo Kojima rang in the New Year by outlining his strategic vision for 2026. Fans shouldn’t anticipate any immediate releases, as the next 12 months will be dedicated to intensive, behind-the-scenes development.

Kojima has maintained an incredibly demanding pace recently. Following the 2025 launch of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the title is expected to make its way to PC in 2026. Meanwhile, Kojima Productions is simultaneously juggling two massive undertakings: Physint—the first project officially confirmed for the PS6—and the cryptic horror title OD, which is being developed in partnership with Microsoft.

In a recent update shared on X, Kojima clarified that 2026 will not be a year defined by major premieres or product launches.

In 2026, we will enter ‘Phase Two,’ paving the way for the ‘Third Phase’ of Kojima Productions. Unlike last year, which was dominated by global travel, this year will be centered on building a robust operational foundation. We are proceeding with the development of the horror project ‘OD’ and initiating full-scale prep for the espionage action title ‘PHYSINT,’ focusing on casting, photogrammetry scanning, and motion capture recording.

Kojima also reaffirmed that work is ongoing for the Death Stranding feature film, various animation projects, and a series of special events. For the next year, fans should expect a focus on craftsmanship over commercial releases; both Physint and OD are sophisticated, long-term projects that require meticulous effort before they are ready for the spotlight.
