The musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman” featuring Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to arrive on digital platforms on November 11, according to the outlet When To Stream.
The story unfolds in an Argentine prison in the early 1980s. Political prisoner Valentín (Diego Luna) is assigned a new cellmate, Luis (Tonatiuh), a hairdresser who dreams of meeting Argentine film star Ingrid Luna (Lopez). Through their conversations, the men mentally escape the brutality of incarceration by retreating into a fantasy world of glamorous women and suave gentlemen.
The film is adapted from Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel of the same name and the 1993 Broadway musical. The most famous screen version remains the Oscar-winning adaptation starring William Hurt. The new rendition is directed by Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Beauty and the Beast).
The world premiere took place at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and critics have greeted “Kiss” positively, with a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
