Kesha Reveals Her Eras Tour-Inspired Breakup Story
While Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour was a source of joy for millions, it inadvertently caused a rift between Kesha and her then-boyfriend, according to the singer herself.
During a candid conversation on the latest episode of Call Her Daddy (released Wednesday, May 6), Kesha shared a humorous account of the only time she’s ever been dumped. Explaining the situation to host Alex Cooper, she noted, “I’ve only been broken up with once. I suspected the guy I was seeing might be a bit of a star-chaser, so I decided to put that to the test.”
“I headed to the Eras Tour,” Kesha continued. “After the concert, there was an afterparty, and I thought, ‘I’m going to go, bring my best friend, and leave the boyfriend at home to see how this plays out.’”
Despite their year-and-a-half relationship, the outcome was swift. “He showed up the very next day, handed back his keys, and that was that,” Kesha recalled.
She added with a laugh, “I couldn’t help but think, ‘Have you no shame? Could you really not wait even 11 days?’ Honestly, if you’re going to end things over someone, Taylor Swift is the right reason to do it.”
The Eras Tour, which ran from March 2023 through December 2024, became a cultural phenomenon, grossing billions and selling over 10 million tickets. Kesha was just one of many stars to attend, joining a list that includes luminaries such as Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Stevie Nicks, Julia Roberts, Eddie Vedder, Serena Williams, and Tom Brady.
The breakup anecdote was just one of many personal insights Kesha shared on Call Her Daddy. She also recounted a bizarre fling with a one-eyed man—which ended due to an unfortunate odor reminiscent of a “Subway sandwich left in a hot car”—before declaring where her true devotion lies.
“My fans are the love of my life,” she told Cooper. “It is the longest, most enduring relationship I’ve ever had. We’ve grown up side-by-side, and they have always been there for me.”
