After its initial debut on PlayStation and PC in 2021 and its subsequent arrival on Xbox in 2024, developer Ember Lab has officially confirmed that Kena: Bridge of Spirits is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. The lush, atmospheric adventure is slated to launch on the platform this Spring.
The Switch 2 iteration will provide a comprehensive experience, incorporating the Anniversary DLC that was introduced in 2022. This expansion features the Spirit Guide Trials, unique Kena outfits, and the addition of Charmstones, along with expanded accessibility options. Players will also have access to the New Game+ mode, which permits a second playthrough with all previously acquired abilities, gear, and Rot companions. This mode also introduces redesigned combat encounters specifically tuned for a more rigorous challenge.
“Kena: Bridge of Spirits delivers a cinematic action-adventure that blends a moving narrative with exploration, environmental puzzles, and rhythmic combat,” Ember Lab noted in the description for the new trailer. Players step into the role of Kena, a young Spirit Guide venturing toward a sacred Mountain Shrine. To restore balance to a forgotten village, she must uncover the secrets of the past with the help of the Rot—small, powerful spirits who assist her in purging the corruption from the land.
Upon its original release, the game received widespread praise for its visual fidelity and heart. In his review, which earned a 9 out of 10, Andrew Reiner noted that while the game has minor flaws, it “confidently sprints into the heart of the adventure,” rewarding players with breathtaking landscapes and a world teeming with secrets.
This announcement follows the recent reveal of the upcoming sequel, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, which is expected to land on PlayStation 5 and PC later this year. While there is currently no official confirmation of the sequel coming to Nintendo’s new console, the arrival of the first game certainly paves the way for future possibilities.
