Keflavik Scenery

For the millions of globetrotters who visit each year, Keflavík serves as the primary gateway to Iceland. The town is home to the Reykjavík–Keflavík International Airport, the nation’s central aviation hub. We have meticulously recreated this landmark as a functional industry site, reflecting its real-world importance in managing a vast portion of the island’s air freight. Virtual truckers will catch glimpses of the main passenger terminal before navigating toward the cargo hangars to manage their deliveries.

As you descend into the heart of Keflavík, you will find a settlement defined by its maritime heritage and contemporary transit role. Established in the 16th century as a bustling fishing community, the town’s identity remains deeply tied to the North Atlantic. Over the decades, the expansion of the airport transformed it into a vital logistical artery for the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Within the expansion, drivers can service various industries, ranging from shipyards and car dealerships to local supermarkets. You will also find essential pit stops like fuel stations and service centers. While some of these facilities are technically situated in the adjacent town of Njarðvík, they collectively form the vibrant Reykjanesbær municipality alongside the village of Hafnir.

Local Industry

While the local road network is intuitive and uncomplicated, it serves as a lifeline for the island. After leaving the airport, haulers can dive into the town streets or merge onto Route 41—the primary highway connecting the peninsula directly to the capital, Reykjavík.

Despite the tranquil atmosphere of the town, the surrounding environment is in a state of constant flux. Situated on an active geological boundary, the Reykjanes Peninsula has seen a surge in volcanic activity recently. In-game, the terrain reflects these powerful natural forces, showcasing a landscape perpetually reshaped by the earth’s internal fires, where ongoing efforts protect vital infrastructure from shifting lava flows.
