Jurassic Park Meets Outlast in Terrifying Steam Game Launching Next Week

Great dinosaur games have been surprisingly rare. Ark: Survival Evolved found a huge audience despite its rough edges, while The Isle has inspired countless viral moments through its proximity chat. Jurassic World Evolution 3 stands out among licensed dinosaur games, but its focus is on running a theme park rather than surviving encounters with prehistoric predators.

Wilderdark takes a different approach. Launching on Steam on November 10, 2026, the survival horror game from indie developer Team Junkfish strands players on an island filled with dinosaurs. These creatures are far from ordinary: according to the game’s Steam page, a mysterious ectoparasitic organism has infected them, leaving grotesque, glowing growths on their skin. The infection has also spread to much of the island’s plant life.

Rather than revisiting the theme-park-disaster premise of Jurassic Park, Wilderdark follows a protagonist sent to investigate the unnatural island in search of immortality. Others have pursued its secrets before, including the protagonist’s parents, but none have returned.

Survival involves setting up camp, gathering resources, and crafting supplies. Players must also collect samples from the island’s creatures and vegetation, using a camera to photograph and scan the organisms they encounter. With dangerous wildlife nearby, staying out of sight is essential.

A free Wilderdark demo offers a chance to explore the island before buying. Reviews of the demo have been mixed, with many criticisms centered on technical problems associated with an older build. The full game arrives on November 10, bringing a promising new blend of dinosaur encounters and survival horror.
