Jeffrey Dean Morgan Was Considered for Lobo Before Jason Momoa

The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has shared details about preparing for a role in a canceled comic book adaptation.

Morgan appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast ahead of the premiere of the third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. During the conversation, the actor recalled that in the 2010s, DC planned a film adaptation of the Lobo comics, and Morgan was slated to play the lead role.

According to the actor, the intergalactic bounty hunter’s personality was a perfect match for his sense of humor, but the part required him to build a noticeable amount of muscle mass:

Morgan did not specify which version of the adaptation he was discussing or why the project fell through. Warner Bros. spent many years attempting to launch a Lobo feature film, but none of the options ever made it into production. The actor himself publicly expressed a desire to play the character as early as 2009, and later returned to the idea in 2018.

Ultimately, Lobo reached the big screen played by Jason Momoa, who had also dreamed of the role for many years. Momoa debuted in Supergirl, while Morgan never got the chance to portray the intergalactic bounty hunter.
