Alan Ritchson, best known for his leading roles in Reacher and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, is reportedly in talks to headline the upcoming Helldivers adaptation, according to Deadline.

Should the negotiations prove successful, Ritchson would step into the lead role vacated by Jason Momoa (Aquaman). Sony Pictures has slated the film—based on the popular video game franchise—for a theatrical release on November 10, 2027. The project will be helmed by director Justin Lin (F9: The Fast Saga), with a screenplay penned by Gary Dauberman (It).

The Helldivers game series launched in 2015 on PlayStation. Its narrative follows an elite squad of soldiers known as “Helldivers,” who serve the militaristic Super Earth in an ongoing galactic war against various extraterrestrial threats, including insects, cyborgs, and the Illuminate.

Ritchson is currently appearing in the action film Motor City, which premiered in Russia this week.
