It Takes Two Developer Working on Co-Op Game Orbitals for Switch 2
Tokyo-based studio Shapefarm will release its cooperative puzzle game Orbitals for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 3, 2026.
Nintendo showcased the cooperative project Orbitals in a new episode of Creator’s Voice, which details the game’s creation.
Tokyo-based studio Shapefarm is developing Orbitals. The team includes Jakob Lundgren, who previously worked at Hazelight Studios on A Way Out, It Takes Two, and Split Fiction. He is now bringing that experience to a project built specifically for two players from the ground up.
The developers emphasize communication. Orbitals uses asymmetric mechanics where players often handle entirely different tasks while needing to maintain constant interaction. Lundgren notes that the game will be accessible and “never overly complex,” making collaborative problem-solving the main focus.
The game features more puzzles than classic platforming sequences. The developers also intentionally designed a shorter adventure so that most players can reach the ending.
Orbitals will release on September 3, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
