Indie releases have shaken up major publishers this year, demonstrating that the gaming scene is evolving. Alongside blockbusters such as Monster Hunter and Battlefield 6, a wave of titles from smaller studios has arrived, including Peak, RV There Yet?, R.E.P.O., and Escape from Duckov.
The Chinese studio Team Soda has every reason to celebrate.
Their parody of Escape from Tarkov is selling rapidly — shipments have topped 3 million copies. That’s a remarkable achievement given the game launched less than a month ago — on October 16. On October 28 the developers announced 2 million copies sold, and two weeks later they reached another million. Results like this would make any large publisher envious.
The team marked the milestone with a festive announcement:
“3 million ducks — we did it! Thank you to every little duck — newcomer, veteran, developer, and modder! To celebrate, we’re giving away 20 free keys. Follow us and repost — winners will be chosen on November 11!”
