Forza Motorsport 5 and 6 playable on PC in 8K at 60 FPS
The fan-made project Azimuth 1.0 lets users play Forza Motorsport 5 and 6 on PC with graphics unavailable on the original consoles and a performance boost of up to 40%.
Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Motorsport 6 are now available on PC through Azimuth 1.0 with support for resolutions up to 8K, 60 FPS, HDR10, and ultrawide monitors. The optimization promises a performance increase of up to 40%.
The new version of Azimuth has expanded its list of supported games to include the Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Motorsport 6 series. The tool runs the original game code on the x86-64 architecture, converting console DirectX 11.X into desktop DirectX 12. The project runs on Windows and Linux, including through Proton.
Azimuth supports resolutions up to 8K with supersampling, HDR10, 21:9 and 32:9 screen formats, and a frame rate of 60 frames per second. Adjustable graphics settings include shadows, draw distance, reflections, and anti-aliasing. According to the creators, the optimization reduces stuttering and accelerates texture loading and frame rendering.
The launcher automatically detects compatible games, allows users to configure graphics separately, and creates backups of save files. Experimental support has also been added for force feedback steering wheels, H-shoppers, and handbrakes.
Update 1.0.2 fixed crashes in Forza Motorsport 6 on Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards. Compatibility and performance still depend on the PC configuration.
