Inde Navarrette Cast in Apple Sci-Fi Thriller Waffle House
If you saw Obsession, Inde Navarrette likely stayed on your mind. Curry Barker directed the breakout horror movie, turning a simple story about a young man’s wish for the woman he loves into an unsettling possession thriller. Navarrette delivered a terrifying performance as Nikki that helped make the movie stand out. Fans have wondered about her next steps ever since. Reports indicated she met with directors attached to major projects like Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie and Heat 2. Now, one of her next major roles is confirmed.
Navarrette will star in The Waffle House Index, a new sci-fi thriller from Apple Original Films and Plan B Entertainment. The Hollywood Reporter notes she will also serve as an executive producer on the movie.
What is The Waffle House Index about?

The title sounds mundane, but The Waffle House Index is anything but ordinary. The Waffle House Index is a real-world measure used informally to gauge how severely a hurricane affects an area. It relies on whether a local Waffle House operates normally, serves a limited menu, or closes entirely. The movie takes that concept in a much stranger direction.
Navarrette plays a Waffle House waitress whose terrible night worsens when a stranger armed with a gun enters the restaurant. The plot escalates into a story featuring a massive flood, killer crocodiles, a nuclear explosion, a mysterious bunker beneath the restaurant, and aliens.
This project follows Obsession for Navarrette. She already filmed Invertigo, a thriller about teenagers trapped on a roller coaster. Her reported involvement with Marvel’s X-Men keeps her busy.
The Waffle House Index continues the collaboration between Plan B and Apple. Led by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner, Plan B previously teamed with Apple on Pitt’s racing drama F1. Plan B also produced the horror film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma and is preparing to shoot The Bell Jar, directed by Sarah Polley.

For an actress coming off a major horror hit, The Waffle House Index marks an unexpected next stop. With killer crocodiles, nuclear explosions, and aliens, Navarrette has found another strange project for her career.
