Hotfix – Patch 1.5.8f1

Update Banner

Greetings, Mayors!

Please note: This update is fully compatible with existing save files and should not disrupt your current mods.

Following our recent update, we received significant feedback regarding extended startup loading times. We sincerely appreciate your patience and detailed reports as we worked to identify the cause. We have now deployed a hotfix to resolve these performance issues; the complete list of changes is outlined below.

Paradox Mods

  • Resolved the issue causing excessive loading times when initializing mods at startup.

General Fixes

  • Streamlined log files: Info and Warning level events will no longer generate unnecessary callstacks.
  • Addressed a rare crash that could occur when loading saved games.

A Closer Look at the Issue

You may have noticed that launching the game—particularly with a large library of active mods—was significantly slower following our last update. This unexpected bottleneck stemmed from a change within the PDX Mods SDK, which inadvertently altered the mod loading process.

Specifically, the delay was triggered by mods that introduced new localization entries. Each time a mod injected these strings, it forced a complete re-initialization of the PDX Mods platform—a computationally demanding process. Because this occurred for every mod adding localization content, it created a compounding strain on CPU resources during startup.

While we strive for thorough quality assurance, our initial test suite of approximately 100 mods failed to surface this specific scenario. Moving forward, we are committing to a much larger and more diverse testing environment to better simulate real-world usage. Furthermore, we are implementing long-term strategies to minimize compatibility issues between core game updates and the modding ecosystem. We look forward to sharing more details on these improvements in upcoming City Corners installments.
