Horror Movie “Weapons” Hits Streaming Just in Time for Halloween

Weapons has emerged as one of 2025’s most talked-about horror entries — despite some viewers taking issue with its themes. If you enjoyed its tone and are searching for a companion piece, Bryan Bertino’s Vicious delivers a similarly unsettling atmosphere.

Vicious follows Polly (Dakota Fanning), who one night receives an enigmatic box left by a late visitor. Its instructions are unnervingly simple: place inside three objects — one you need, one you loathe, and one you love. What begins as curiosity quickly unravels into a waking nightmare: boundaries between memory and reality blur, and Polly is forced into a series of impossible choices.

With time slipping away, she must confront the darkness both without and within before it destroys everything she holds dear. The cast also includes Kathryn Hunter, Mary McCormack, Rachel Blanchard, Devyn Nekoda, Klea Scott, and Emily Mitchell.

If Vicious evokes The Strangers — where a chance intruder triggers catastrophe — that resonance isn’t accidental: Bertino directed that film as well. The new picture likewise positions an older woman as a pivotal, menacing presence, recalling Amy Madigan’s witchlike aunt Gladys. Expect a mix of psychological dread, mystery, and some disquieting imagery (including haunting shots of children in the trailer’s finale).
