Heroes of Might and Magic 5 gameplay shown on Unreal Engine 5 — modders reveal their achievements
Development of Heroes 5 Reborn is ongoing.
The team recently released a new development diary. Modders are porting Heroes of Might and Magic V to Unreal Engine 5.
The developers shared a set of gameplay clips from Heroes 5 Reborn and described the work completed and milestones achieved, including:
- Town screen: full castle construction is implemented; once a structure is built it appears on the city’s 3D model — visuals are currently in a rough draft state.
- The recruitment system for troops and heroes is functional, along with upgrade paths and garrison mechanics.
- A save/load system has been added; multiplayer now supports simultaneous turns.
- Combat updates: large creatures that occupy 4 tiles have been introduced, as well as flying units.
- The ATB (Active Time Battle) gauge has been redesigned to match the original precisely; it now displays numeric indicators for each unit’s current ATB position.
- The battle system was refactored for greater flexibility, enabling the team to begin adding unique abilities to units.
