Guns N’ Roses dug deep into their archives to surprise fans with a long-lost rarity during a recent stop on their South American tour.
While headlining the Monsters of Rock festival at São Paulo’s Allianz Parque on Saturday, April 5, the rock legends delivered a blistering rendition of “Bad Apples,” a deep cut from Use Your Illusion I. The performance marked the first time the band has played the track live in 35 years.
According to historical setlist data, this was only the second time the song has ever been performed in a live setting. Its previous outing was at Brazil’s Rock in Rio in 1991. While Slash has occasionally revisited the gritty, blues-infused track with his side project, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, it has remained a white whale for Guns N’ Roses concertgoers for decades.
The São Paulo setlist offered plenty of other treats for die-hard fans, including the rarely heard “Dead Horse” and the Appetite for Destruction classic “Rocket Queen.”
Earlier this year, during a conversation with Las Vegas radio station KOMP 92.3, Slash promised that the band’s 2026 world tour would bridge the gap between their legendary past and their current creative output. The tour officially launched on March 28 at the Tecate Pa’l Norte festival in Monterrey, Mexico, where the band debuted two new songs, “Atlas” and “Nothin’.” These tracks represent the first fresh material from the group since the release of their 2023 singles “Perhaps” and “The General.”
The iconic guitarist also shared some exciting news regarding the band’s future releases. He hinted that Guns N’ Roses might soon bundle their recent standalone singles into a formal collection before shifting focus to a completely original studio album—the first full-length effort since 2008’s Chinese Democracy.
“I think we’re going to take all those songs we’ve been re-recording and release them as a package,” Slash explained, referring to tracks like “Atlas” and “Nothin’.” He added, “Once we’re done clearing out the vault, the next project will be entirely new, original material. That will be a proper album.”
Guns N’ Roses are set to continue their trek across Brazil, with their next performance scheduled for April 7 in São José do Rio Preto, before they head to Florida in late April.
