Certainly, GTA: Vice City is far from Doom, a game that can be played on almost any device with a screen or something that at least remotely resembles one. However, enthusiasts continue to broaden the array of “platforms”. Manawyrm and tSYS from the KittenLabs team managed to run GTA: VC on a TP-Link TL-WDR4900 router.
The choice was made for this device because it has a 32-bit central processing unit. An AMD Radeon HD 7470 was used as the graphics card, and Debian Linux served as the operating system. The version of the game tested was not the official one, but a fan project called re3, which had its lawsuit concluded a year ago. However, not everything went smoothly at the beginning. Various bugs appeared, and for some time NPCs had to be disabled for the system to function correctly. You can find the full story of how GTA: Vice City was run on a router and step-by-step instructions here.
