GTA 6 Leak Predictor Reportedly Visited by Detectives, Launches Fundraiser
Authorities have not yet arrested the hacker who has been leaking Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay footage.
In August, an individual hacker or group operating under the name Cyberleek began sharing gameplay clips of Grand Theft Auto VI online. Members of the gaming community soon noted that an online user had previously claimed leaks would start appearing on August 18. That initial claim was met with skepticism at the time, but some now view it as an accurate prediction.
Following these events, a post by social media account elb (@LewisBi94895348) went viral. The account holder claims to be the person who predicted the leak date. He also stated that unidentified individuals recently came to his home to speak with him. Any direct ties between these visitors, developer Rockstar Games, and publisher Take-Two Interactive remain unconfirmed, as neither company has issued a comment.
User nothing and no one remarked on how quickly the narrative developed: "This story went from boring to the funniest thing ever so fast. If you told me a week ago that we would get a video of Rockstar's lawyers knocking on some random Reddit user's door, I would have laughed right in your face."
Shortly after posting, elb began soliciting money. This led several community members to suspect a scam, speculating that the user simply spotted the accurate leak prediction online and fabricated the story about being visited by investigators.
GTA VI is slated to launch on November 19 of this year for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No official release window has been shared for a PC version.
